Pink Beach

One of only seven pink-sand beaches on earth.

The colour comes from red organ-pipe coral ground into white sand over centuries. It is strongest when wet, at the waterline, in the hour after sunrise.

The short answer

What Pink Beach actually is

Snorkelling over coral gardens metres from shore. Season: March–June, visibility over 30 metres. Access: 45-minute cruise from Labuan Bajo. Allow Half a day, morning light.

Why it is worth the stop

What makes it worth anchoring for

01

Why it is pink

Red organ-pipe coral, broken down and mixed through white sand. Wet sand at the waterline shows it best; dry sand higher up looks almost white.

02

The reef starts at the beach

You do not need a tender or a dive. Coral gardens begin a few metres out, which is why it works for children and non-divers.

03

Come early

Day boats arrive mid-morning. An overnight anchorage puts you on an empty beach with the colour at its strongest.

Park entrance and conservation fees are inside the charter rate and re-checked close to sailing — they move, and a stale figure becomes your problem at the gate.

Inside the rate

What the day rate already covers

  • Tender transfer from the yacht
  • Guide or ranger where the site requires one
  • Snorkelling and diving equipment
  • National park entrance and conservation fees
  • Water, shade and reef-safe sunscreen sent ashore
  • Timing planned around tide, light and the day boats

A private charter decides its own hours here. Day boats run to a fixed schedule; you do not, which is usually the difference between an empty site and a crowded one. Specific inclusions depend on the yacht selected, our charter desk will confirm the full list for your chosen vessel.

Before you commit

Four questions the desk gets weekly

Is the sand really pink?

Yes, though softer than photographs suggest. It reads strongest at the waterline and in early light; midday sun washes it out.

Is the snorkelling good?

Very. Over a thousand reef fish species, turtles and reef sharks, with coral starting only metres from shore.

When is visibility best?

March to June, when it regularly exceeds 30 metres.

Can non-swimmers enjoy it?

Yes — it is a beach first. The shallows are calm and the walk along the waterline is the point for most guests.

Put it in the itinerary

Tell the desk which stops matter most and how many days you have. The route is built around them, and the written quote comes back the same day.
