Family Charter

Flat at anchor, shallow at the beach, railed on deck.

The three things that decide whether a family charter works have nothing to do with luxury: how much the boat moves at night, how deep the water is where the children swim, and whether the crew has done it before.

The short answer

What family charter actually involves

Kanawa shore snorkel, dragon trek, Pink Beach, sandbar at low tide. Suits all ages; the catamaran is the default recommendation. Season: April–August for the calmest water. Equipment: child life jackets, continuous deck rails, shallow-water snorkelling, kids’ menu.

What makes it work

Three things that decide it

01

Catamaran, usually

Twin hulls stay flat at anchor, which matters more with children aboard than any other single factor.

02

Water they can stand in

Kanawa and Pink Beach start at ankle depth. No tender ride, no drop-off, no deep entry.

03

Dragons do the rest

The trek is the thing children talk about afterwards. Rangers are used to family groups and set the short trail.

Inside the rate

What the day rate already covers

  • Fully crewed private charter
  • All meals and beverages
  • Specialist guide where the activity needs one
  • Equipment listed above
  • Komodo National Park permits
  • Timing planned around tide, light and the day boats

A private charter sets its own hours. Day boats run to a fixed schedule; you do not — which is usually the difference between doing this well and doing it in a queue. Specific inclusions depend on the yacht selected, our charter desk will confirm the full list for your chosen vessel.

Before you commit

Four questions the desk gets weekly

Which vessel for a family?

The catamaran first — twin hulls stay flat at anchor and the deck area per metre is the largest in the fleet.

Is it safe for young children?

Life jackets in child sizes, continuous rails, and crew trained for family groups. The shallow sites need no swimming ability at all.

Will they eat the food?

A kids’ menu is standard. Tell the galley the specifics at booking rather than at the first meal.

How many nights?

Four to six. Longer works if the party splits its days; shorter loses too much to transit.

Build it into the charter

Tell the desk this is the priority and how many days you have. The route is planned around it, and the written quote comes back the same day.
