Komodo Diving FAQ
Q: What certification level do I need for Komodo diving?
A: Most Komodo dive sites are suitable for Open Water certified divers. However, several top sites (Batu Bolong, Castle Rock, The Cauldron) are Advanced Open Water or higher due to strong currents. We provide certified dive guides who assess conditions and adjust itineraries accordingly.
Q: Can non-divers join a diving charter?
A: Absolutely. Non-divers can snorkel at most sites while certified divers go deeper. Our liveaboard vessels have excellent snorkeling platforms and the surface scenery is also outstanding. Mixed dive/snorkel groups are welcome.
Q: What marine life can I expect to see?
A: Manta rays (year-round, peak Oct–Apr), reef sharks, wobbegong sharks, thresher sharks (Sape Strait), sea turtles, napoleon wrasse, barracuda, dolphin, dugong (rare), pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, and thousands of tropical fish species.
Q: Is dive equipment provided?
A: We provide tanks, weights, and a certified dive guide with all charters. For full equipment (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, fins, mask), rental is available at an additional charge. We recommend bringing your own mask and fins for comfort.
